This piece was painted for a group show for the Kitchener Public Library celebrating Canada's 150th birthday.  Opening reception is July 5th.  The Art District Gallery artists are participating.

I painted outside yesterday and the winds got very strong.  My easel was weighted down with five rocks.  It was so windy I didn't have time to think - only to react.  This was finished up inside.

A couple years ago I painted a larger version of this flower.  This time, I went for a smaller canvas.

For this one, I was painting inside but looking out a window on a cold grey day and decided to use a limited palette of phthalo blue, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, white and black.  This is a very unusual palette for me but it worked because of the weather!
