This still life was set up by Laurie Wonfor-Nolan. It was a workshop she taught a couple years ago on colour. All the items were either black or white and we had to use a very limited palette of our own choosing. Even though this is one of my earlier acrylic paintings there is something I like about this one - maybe it is the swan...
This is one of two paintings I did at the Preston Market to promote A Day and A Night in Hespeler on August 25th. I bought the beats from a vendor and placed them on the ground leaning up against a big maple tree. I decided not to refine or change anything once I got home.
I painted this from a photo but can't recall the exact location. I have in mind a couple places it could be and with some more thought I'm sure I can figure it out.
I started this painting at a friend's house and included her candle stick and some potted plants and an apple I brought for lunch. At home I painted in all the rest of the apples.
More garden tulips.....not sure if this one is a keeper or not. I might repaint the tulips or maybe the whole canvas....will pour a glass of wine and think on it.
These flowers were from a mother's day bouquet. I painted two canvases but the second one was only half finished when the cat and dog had a chasing game and down went the vase.......I'm working on trying to finish the second one from memory....
I was in my kitchen looking out at the garden and saw square poppies. The wind must blown the petals around just so to make it look as though they were all square.
This is another carnation painting using a small jar for a vase. I painted four of these and I'll post the last one tomorrow. To see the other two click here and here.
