As we were driving through the country last fall, I spotted this tree line and stopped to take some pictures. There were great colours, clouds and shadows and I knew I had to paint this scene.
Another painting from the farm property outside Cambridge ON. There were a couple ponds on the property so painting outside with all of the smells and sounds added to the enjoyment.
Items on my outside potting table....overturned pots and some stones and rocks. The lower middle pot is rusted and weathered and was my inspiration for starting this painting.
I posted this painting before but recently tweaked it and re-named it. Sometimes you can look at a painting with fresh eyes and see something you didn't notice before - yes?
This is a slightly abstracted view of trees and roots. The colour of everything inside the forest was grey/green/tan. I took some liberties with colour.
This is a plein aire painting done last summer. The day was hot and the reflections in the pond were good. So far, I've done four paintings from this farm property and hope to do more using my photos.
I painted my sister's black and white cat, Spencer, from a photo. He is lying in his favourite bowl. I really enjoyed painting his ears - one pink and one blue.
This was painted from a photo I took when the sun was streaming through the window and the glass plate was picking up all this incredible fractured light. Even the fruit was highlighted. This piece was accepted into a juried show last fall.
I painted this from a photograph my husband took of a relative's house . The view is from the back and the gardens were lush with flowers and vegetables at the time.
I painted this still life last year in Laurie Wonfor Nolan's studio in Hespeler, Ontario. I love this old pink chair. It has appeared in a few other paintings.
