A couple years ago I painted a larger version of this flower.  This time, I went for a smaller canvas.

For this one, I was painting inside but looking out a window on a cold grey day and decided to use a limited palette of phthalo blue, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, white and black.  This is a very unusual palette for me but it worked because of the weather!

I tried plein air painting this one but just after I got set up and finished my sketch it started raining.  This was a beautiful little spot alongside a bridge.
